“EGYPT AND tunisia – The Future of Middle East and the Muslim World”

The Future of Middle East and the Muslim World”
. Monday, 14th February 2011 – 8.30pm –10.30pm.De Palma Hotel, Ampang
The end to the political crisis in Egypt and Tunisia represents another symbol of triumph for the movement of the people’s power. The recent event which would have a spectacular effect on the political milieu in the region serves as a fresh and cold test for the people of Egypt and Tunisia to decide for themselves a representative government that would embody the spirit of democracy as well as encouraging towards it. For decades, the people of Egypt and Tunisia had been ruled under a dominating and tyrant-like leader which had total control over the judiciary, legislative and of course, the executive. Economic malaise persists with high unemployment, food price inflation and low minimum wages. The fall of tyranny in Tunisia and Egypt opens up the opportunity for further democratization in the region and this poses considerable challenges to the largely Muslim countries in the region. Hence, this forum aims to discuss the future of the Middle East and the Muslim World in regards on the further democratization of the region and on the role of the United States in mediating the balance of power in the Middle East region.
RIGHTS (Regional Initiatives for Governance and Social Justice) and KeADILan International cordially invite you to a discussion on the recent political upheaval in the Middle East region which is titled “Egypt and Tunisia – The Future of the Middle East and the Muslim World” Monday, 14th February 2011 from 8.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. at the De Palma Hotel, Ampang.
